Balanced plant nutrition

Balanced nutrition in crop production.

Nutrient management is the main component for good plant growth, better yield and quality output of every crop. Balanced nutrition programme in crop production followed or implemented definitely will help plants to grow sturdy and healthy with good flower initiations, better fertilization and good fruit setting. Efficient nutrient management will also help plants resist against adverse environmental effects, tolerance for many diseases and develop energy and fight against many pests and diseases.

The output produced with good nutrient management practices can sustain longer durability. The taste will be increased; the protein content and tmanhe weight of the produce will also be increased with some of the micronutrient application. Hence on whole the crop yields can fetch good price when crop is grown under better integrated nutrient management practices.

IMPORTANCE OF NUTRIENTS TO PLANTS

Growth and development of plants require food for existence. Food can be called as the essential nutrients which consist of 16 elements such as Carbon, Oxygen, Hydrogen, Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium, Calcium, Magnesium, Sulfur, Iron, Zinc, Manganese, Copper, Boron, Molybdenum, and Chlorine. Recent advances in plant nutrition are also suggesting Nickel and Silicon elements are also required for growth and development of plants. Primary nutrients like Carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen can be obtained from the atmosphere and soil water. Other nutrients are supplied through from soil minerals and soil organic matter or by organic or inorganic fertilizers.

Light, heat, and water must be adequately supplied for plants to utilize these nutrients efficiently

Every type of plant requires minimum nutrient level. Below this minimum level, plants exhibit nutrient deficiency symptoms. Excessive nutrient uptake will also cause poor growth due to toxicity. Hence proper amount of nutrient application and the placement of nutrients are important.

Proper utilization of applied nutrients and use of particular nutrients at critical plant growth stages is achieved by activity of bioactivator - enzymes which are released at different growth stages and additional application of bioactivator - enzymes during growth stages can boost up the growth.
