About UniVeg Seeds

UniVeg is a vegetable seed brand of UniVeg Seed Technologies Private Limited, a Hyderabad-based company incorporated in 2014. The company researches and develops vegetable seeds for Indian farmers, with chilli as one of its key crops. Its range covers crops like chilli, tomato, okra and watermelon, bred for good yield, wide adaptability and tolerance to common pests and diseases. Being based in Telangana places the company close to some of India’s major chilli-growing areas.

BigHaat offers UniVeg chilli seeds, including the Aadi and Akshi varieties. Aadi grows on medium tall, well-branched plants and gives glossy light green fruits of about 12 to 13 cm with high pungency. It is an early variety with short picking intervals. Akshi has medium tall, well-branched plants with good fruit setting, good fruit colour and shine, and high tolerance to sucking pests. Its dry fruit has less chaffiness. These varieties may help farmers get good yield, quality fruit and better market value for green and dry chilli.

Why Choose UniVeg for Seeds?

UniVeg focuses on vegetable seeds suited to Indian growing conditions, with chilli as a key crop. Aadi is an early chilli with high pungency and short picking intervals, which can help farmers get more pickings for the green chilli market. Akshi has high tolerance to sucking pests, which can help reduce crop damage and input costs. Its dry fruit has less chaffiness, which may suit farmers who sell dry chilli. Both varieties have vigorous, well-branched plants that can support good fruit setting and steady yield. Their wide adaptability makes them suitable for different chilli-growing regions.

How to Choose the Right UniVeg Seeds?

Choose the right UniVeg seed based on your crop, local climate, soil type, growing season and market demand. For chilli, decide whether you are growing for the green chilli market or for dry chilli, and pick a variety whose fruit colour, length and pungency suit that market. Consider the pest pressure in your area, as varieties with tolerance to sucking pests can help reduce spray costs. Also choose seeds with good germination and suitability for your region.
