TERRACE GARDENING TIPS

Now a days where the cities are occupied with flats, vehicles and populations it’s only the house terraces left to plan for a garden. So terrace gardening is a trend in big cities like Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Lucknow and Cochin. The main advantage of terrace gardening is it is organic, keeps a check on the increasing temperature, saves money,  time and bring a positive environment around the house.

Many vegetables like brinjal, tomato, chillies, cucurbits etc and flowers like marigold, rose, chrysanthemum, zinnia etc can be grown easily on the terrace with a proper management. It is advisable to grow the vegetables facing south or west direction with proper pruning so that the plants get adequate sun light and maintain good shape and health. If the plants are grown in the warm tropical climates where the sun is strong, it is better to grow them in a shade.

Similar to field, diseases and pests are common in terrace gardening. So it is advisable to use organic based chemicals to combat the diseases and pests occurring in terrace gardening. The major kind of pests in terrace gardening is the sucking pests like jassids, mealy bugs, white flies, aphids, thrips, which transmit the viruses causing leaf curl, yellow mosaic, wilts in plants.
