Fruit fly adult puncture and lay eggs on fruits. The maggots feed the pulp inside, as a result oozing of resinous fluid comes from fruits. They cause distortion, cracking of fruits leading to falling of fruits. The cracks on fruits acts as entry point for fungi and bacteria causing fruit rot. Fruits become unfit for consumption. The flies infest flower buds, which will not allow opening of flowers and fruit set. If infestation is severe cause complete loss of crop. Manage fruit flies effectively to avoid loss of fruits.
