Virtako Insecticide (Thiamethoxam 1% + Chlorantraniliprole 0.5% GR) by Syngenta is a granular insecticide with dual mode of action such as systemic and contact, recommended for controlling insect pests in paddy, maize and sugarcane. It provides long-lasting protection against major insect pests. Virtako Insecticide is recommended for paddy, maize, and sugarcane. It controls stem borer, leaf folder, green leaf hopper and brown plant hopper in paddy, aphids and stem borer in maize, and early shoot borer in sugarcane. It is recommended for granular applications.

Mode of Entry: Systemic, contcat and ingetion
Mode of Action: Virtako combines two active ingredients with different modes of action. Thiamethoxam belongs to the neonicotinoid group and acts on the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor. Chlorantraniliprole is a ryanodine receptor modulator belonging to the anthranilic diamide group.
Time of Application: Apply according to the crop-specific recommendation and at the recommended crop stage.

Method of Application
Granular Application / Broadcasting: Broadcast the granules as evenly as possible at the beginning of infestation.
- For paddy: Apply 2.4 kg/acre by broadcasting; mix with 7–10 kg sand or fertilizer.
- For maize: Apply 2.4 kg/acre by broadcasting; mix with 7–10 kg sand or fertilizer.
- For sugarcane: Apply 4 kg/acre by broadcasting; mix with 7–10 kg sand or fertilizer; Apply in the furrow on sets at the time of planting and cover the sets with soil.
Best Time to Apply
- Apply at the beginning of infestation.
- For paddy, apply around 20 days after transplanting from vegetative stage to early tillering stage.
- For maize, apply at 15–20 days after sowing.
- For sugarcane, apply between 0–30 days from planting to tillering.
Compatibility, Safety & Storage
Tank Mix Compatibility
Not applicable for tank mixing as Virtako is a granular formulation applied directly to the field.
Safety Precautions
- Wear protective clothing, impermeable gloves, mask, goggles and boots while handling and applying the product.
- Do not eat, drink or smoke while applying.
- Wash hands with soap and plenty of water after application.
- Avoid air/dust contamination of the cropping area during treatment and application.
Beneficial Organisms & Environmental Safety
- Virtako is highly toxic to honeybees and other pollinators so avoid using during the active foraging period of honeybees.
- Do not apply on flowering crops 5 days before flowering starts through the end of flowering.
- Do not allow drift to flowering weeds, hedges or flowering crops near the treatment area.
- Do not apply if a high amount of honeydew is present in the treatment area.
- Virtako is toxic to aquatic organisms, including fish, shrimps and other crustaceans growing in paddy fields.
- Avoid contamination of water used for irrigation or domestic purposes.
- Avoid runoff into surface water.
- Do not dispose of product waste into ponds, ditches, lakes or other water areas.
Storage
Store the product in its original container. Keep away from food, animal feed and other articles. Store separately under lock and key. Keep away from children, unauthorized persons and animals. Store in a well-built, dry, well ventilated place. Keep away from direct sunlight.

Additional Information
- Follow IRAC resistance management guidelines wherever applicable.
- Avoid repeated applications of insecticides with the same mode of action.
