EMA5 Insecticide (Emamectin Benzoate 5% SG) by Katyayani is a non-systemic insecticide that works through contact, stomach and translaminar action. It is used to control caterpillars, borers, thrips and mites in cotton, okra, cabbage, chilli, brinjal, red gram, chickpea, green gram, grapes and tea. Katyayani EMA5 is effective against bollworms, fruit and shoot borers, diamondback moth, pod borers and tea looper, while its translaminar movement helps control larvae feeding on the lower leaf surface. Best applied through foliar spray when larval infestation is first noticed, it causes feeding cessation and affected larvae die within 2 to 4 days.
Emamectin Benzoate 5% SG
Mode of Entry: Contact and stomach action with translaminar movement
Mode of Action: EMA5 is a non systemic insecticide from the avermectin group. It acts mainly when larvae feed on treated plant material and provides contact activity.
The product has an antifeedant effect, causing caterpillars to stop feeding soon after ingestion. Affected larvae become paralysed and die within 2 to 4 days. Its translaminar movement helps reach larvae feeding on the lower surface of leaves.
Time of Application: Apply EMA5 when larval infestation is first noticed.
• Broad spectrum caterpillar control: Controls labelled pests such as bollworms, fruit and shoot borers, diamondback moth, pod borers and tea looper.
• Contact and stomach action: Acts when the spray reaches the target pest and when larvae feed on treated plant material.
• Quick feeding cessation: The source states that caterpillars stop feeding shortly after ingesting the product.
• Translaminar protection: Moves through leaf tissue and helps control larvae feeding on the lower surface of leaves.
• Larvicidal activity: EMA5 is an effective larvicide with antifeedant activity.
• Rainfastness: EMA5 develops rainfastness about four hours after spraying.
• Suitable for integrated pest management: The product is suitable for use in integrated pest management programmes.
