Mode of Action

Chemical Group: Pretilachlor belongs to the chloroacetamide family of herbicides.

Cell Disruption: It works by inhibiting the biosynthesis of very-long-chain fatty acids (VLCFA) and acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACCase). These fatty acids are essential for building cell membranes; without them, cell division and plant growth are completely disrupted.

Pre-Emergence Absorption: Because it is a pre-emergence herbicide, it destroys weeds before they can breach the soil surface. As the weed seeds begin to germinate, the chemical is heavily absorbed by their emerging shoots (hypocotyls, mesocotyls, and coleoptiles) and, to a lesser extent, by their developing roots

Key Features & Benefits

Broad-Spectrum Formula: It contains active ingredients that target multiple weed categories simultaneously, including grasses, sedges, and broad-leaved weeds.

High Selectivity: The chemical structure is designed to recognize and bypass the rice plant while aggressively targeting weed seeds.

Pre-Emergence Action: It works strictly on the soil surface/subsurface before weeds break through the ground.

Extended Residual Activity: The chemical barrier remains active in the soil for up to 50 days after application.

Emulsifiable Concentrate (EC): It is formulated as a liquid that rapidly dissolves and spreads uniformly when mixed with water.

Zero Soil Carryover: The chemical breaks down naturally after the crop cycle and leaves no permanent residue in the soil.

Maximized Crop Yields: Because weeds are eliminated before they even sprout, the rice crop doesn't have to compete for nutrients, water, or sunlight during its most critical early growth phase.

Complete Crop Safety: You don't have to worry about crop shock—the rice plants will not suffer from stunting, yellowing, or delayed growth.

Cost and Labor Savings: A single application controls a wide variety of weeds, significantly reducing the need for manual weeding or purchasing multiple specialized herbicides.

Application Ease: Since it spreads quickly across standing water, it provides excellent, even field coverage without requiring intensive spraying effort.

Crop Rotation Freedom: Farmers can safely plant vegetables, pulses, or any other subsequent crop in the same field immediately after the rice harvest without worrying about toxic soil residue.
