About Tyson
Tyson (Trichoderma viride 1.5% WP) by Katyayani is a bio fungicide used for controlling soil borne and seed borne fungal diseases in crops. It effectively controls seedling wilt, root wilt, wilt caused by Fusarium oxysporum and Fusarium solani, and root rot caused by Sclerotium rolfsii, in crops such as groundnut, chilli, tomato, brinjal, carrot and okra. By producing antibiotic substances that act against plant pathogens, Tyson helps protect the crop right from the seed and nursery stage. It works through antibiosis and competition for nutrients, and is suitable for seed treatment, seedling dip, soil application, or foliar spray depending on the crop and disease.

Mode of Action
Tyson contains Trichoderma viride, a fungal bioagent that produces antibiotic substances capable of killing or suppressing several plant pathogens. It suppresses pathogenic fungi through antibiosis, using secondary metabolites, and by competing with them for nutrients. Tyson also secretes cellulase and chitinase enzymes that break down the cell wall of disease causing fungi and bacteria, which reduces the overall pathogen load in the root zone. Alongside its disease control action, Trichoderma viride also releases plant growth promoting agents.

Method of Applications
- Seed Treatment: Mix the required quantity of seeds with the required quantity of Tyson and ensure uniform coating, then shade dry before sowing. The rate varies by crop, ranging from 4 to 20 grams per kg of seed depending on the crop.
- Nursery Bed Treatment: For tomato and brinjal, treat the nursery bed with Tyson at 50 grams per square metre before transplanting.
- Seedling Dip: For chilli, dip the roots of the seedlings in the Tyson solution for 20 minutes at the time of transplanting.
- Soil Application: Mix Tyson with well decomposed farmyard manure and spread it uniformly over the field near the root zone. The rate ranges from 2.5 to 5 kg per hectare depending on the crop (see dosage table).
- Foliar Spray: For chilli, dissolve 5 grams of Tyson in one litre of water and spray.
Best Time to Apply: Tyson is applied before sowing, before transplanting, or in the case of chilli soil application, at the time of crop transplanting and again at the time of flowering.
