About BACF ANTERRA - Thiamethoxam 1% + Chlorantraniliprole 0.5% GR Insecticides

Anterra is a granular (GR) insecticide formulation containing two distinct active ingredients: Thiamethoxam (1.0% w/w) and Chlorantraniliprole (0.5% w/w).

It is specifically designed to provide robust protection against a wide array of chewing and sucking pests, particularly in crops like paddy, maize, and sugarcane.

The granular form allows for direct and easy soil application.

Mode of Action

The effectiveness of Anterra comes from how its two active ingredients complement each other:

Thiamethoxam (Neonicotinoid): A highly systemic insecticide that is quickly absorbed by the plant roots and transported upward to all parts. It disrupts the insect's central nervous system by binding to nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, interfering with nerve signal transmission.

Chlorantraniliprole (Anthranilic diamide): Works primarily through ingestion. It activates the ryanodine receptors in the insect's muscle cells, causing an uncontrolled release and depletion of internal calcium. This leads to severe muscle paralysis, immediate cessation of feeding, and eventual death of the insect.

This product is typically applied by broadcasting directly into the field. For uniform application, it is recommended to mix the granules with 7 to 10 kg of sand or fertilizer.

Maintaining adequate soil moisture or a shallow water level in the field during application ensures the best systemic uptake by the roots.

Key Features & Benefits

Dual Mode of Action: Combines two powerful chemistries that attack different physiological systems within the insect, reducing the risk of pest resistance.

Systemic and Contact Activity: Offers both systemic action (absorbed by the roots and spread throughout the plant) and contact action (kills pests upon direct exposure).

Granular Formulation: Excellent granule structure ensures uniform distribution, easy handling, and convenient field application (broadcasting).

Broad-Spectrum Control: Effective against multiple pest species simultaneously.

Prolonged Protection: Provides long-lasting residual control, keeping crops safe during critical vegetative and tillering stages.

Complete Crop Coverage: Because it is highly systemic, it protects both older foliage and new plant growth that emerges after application.

Immediate Knockdown: Causes pests to stop feeding almost immediately, preventing further crop damage.

Enhanced Crop Health: Promotes better crop establishment by supporting profuse rooting, increased tiller development, and overall plant vigour, which ultimately leads to higher yields.
