Mode of Action

Systemic and Selective: Paddle is a selective, systemic post-emergence herbicide. Once applied, it is quickly absorbed through the foliage and roots of the weeds.

Enzyme Inhibition: It works by inhibiting acetolactate synthase (ALS), a crucial plant enzyme.

Disrupts Growth: The ALS enzyme is necessary for the synthesis of branched-chain amino acids (valine, leucine, and isoleucine). By blocking this production, the herbicide prevents plant growth.

Eventual Death: This disruption leads to stunted growth, chlorosis, and the gradual but complete death of the targeted weeds without affecting the rice plants.

Dosage per Acre

General Dosage:

Per Acre: 80 ml to 100 ml.

Dilution: Mix the required dose in 150 to 200 liters of water per acre to ensure uniform coverage.

Method: Spray using a knapsack sprayer fitted with a flat fan or flood jet nozzle. Ensure adequate soil moisture at the time of application for the best residual results.

Key Features & Benefits

Systemic and Selective Action: It is a highly selective, systemic post-emergence herbicide designed specifically for rice crops.

Broad-Spectrum Control: It effectively targets a wide variety of weeds, including grasses, sedges, and broadleaf weeds, in a single application.

Formulation: It comes as a Suspension Concentrate (SC), which allows it to mix easily and uniformly with water.

Mode of Action: It acts as an acetolactate synthase (ALS) enzyme inhibitor, effectively stopping weed growth by disrupting their amino acid biosynthesis.

Chemical Group: It contains an active ingredient from the pyrimidinyl thiobenzoate chemical group.

Rapid Absorption: Once applied as a foliar spray, it is quickly absorbed through the leaves and stems of the target weeds.

Flexible Application Window: It can be applied 10–15 days after transplanting or when the weeds are at the 2–4 leaf stage.

High Crop Safety: It eliminates weeds without causing stress or harm to the rice plants, ensuring safe crop development.

Cost-Effective: Because it is highly effective at low doses, it reduces overall input costs for farmers.

Quick and Visible Results: The rapid absorption stops weed growth completely within a few days, leading to visible yellowing, stunting, and eventual die-off.

Improved Yields: By effectively reducing crop-weed competition early in the season, it supports better nutrient uptake, healthier crop growth, and higher yields.

Environmentally Friendly: It is biodegradable, leaves no harmful residues, and is relatively safe for the environment when used according to guidelines (often classified under the blue toxicity category).

Labor Saving: Providing long-lasting, complete control from roots to shoots minimizes the need for manual weeding.

Additional Information

Field Prep: Drain standing water from the field before spraying so weed leaves are fully exposed to the spray.

Spraying: Use a flat-fan nozzle for uniform coverage directly on the target weeds.

Post-Spray Water Management: Re-flood the field or irrigate 2 to 3 days after application and keep water standing for 5 to 7 days
