Pusa Basmati 1885 is an improved near-isogenic line of the iconic Pusa Basmati 1121, developed through Molecular Marker Assisted Breeding (MAS) by ICAR-IARI.
It carries four disease-resistance genes and produces extra-long slender aromatic grains ideal for the Basmati growing region.

Semi-dwarf, non-lodging, high-yielding Basmati rice variety with seed-to-seed maturity of typically 140 days.
MAS-derived near-isogenic line (NIL) of the popular Pusa Basmati 1121.
Carries two bacterial blight resistance genes (xa13, Xa21) and two blast resistance genes (Pi54, Pi2).
Grains are extra-long slender (7.95 mm) with excellent kernel elongation on cooking (16.52 mm).
