Pusa Basmati 1979 is an official non-GM, herbicide-tolerant rice variety developed by ICAR-IARI.
It is an improved version of PB 1121 containing a mutated gene that resists Imazethapyr herbicide.
This variety matures in 130 to 133 days and yields about 45.8 quintals per hectare. It is highly recommended for direct seeding to save water and labor.
