Suitability of the variety for the Area Agro Climatic Zone
All India
Selection of the field/land preparation practices
Select well drained medium to heavy soil, after ploughing apply stn of FYM
Seed Treatment-rate of timing/ chemical
Seeds are treated with Carbendazim 2g + Thiram 2 g per Kg of seeds.
Sowing Time
Summer, Rabi, Kharif (as per variety recommendation)
Seed Rate/ Sowing method- line sowing with row to row and plant to plant distance/ direct sowing
Seed Rate: 100-120 g per acre.
Sowing: Sow the seeds in nursery, after 21 days, seedlings will get ready for transplant
Spacing: 60 x 30 cm
Fertilizer dose with timing
Total N:P:K requirement @ 80:100:120 kg per acre.
Dose & Timing:
Basal Dose: Apply 50% N and 100% P, K as basal dose during final land preparation.
Top Dressing: 25% N at 20 days after sowing and 25% N at 35 days after sowing
Weed Control- Chemicals with doses and timing
Timely weed removal is very important, need based hand weeding can be done to ensure healthy crop.
2 rounds of weeding is sufficient.
Diseases & Pest control- Chemicals with doses and timing
Apply insecticides as per recommendation. In summer, crop must be protected from DBM, Advised preventive sprays for leaf eating caterpillars.
Irrigation Schedule
Irrigation Frequency Depends upon -
Soil type: Light soils & summer season need more frequency.
Pre transplanting: Irrigation advised in summer, 2nd day after transplanting a light running irrigation is suggested.
Harvesting
Depending upon variety and season, cabbages generally matures within 65-75 days after transplanting. Once the head become compact, it is harvested. Harvesting done by applying pre-harvest irrigation along with 3-4 lower leaves.
Expected Yield of the variety
Average yield: 18 – 20 MT /acre (depending on season and cultural practice)
